Fire Stairs

There are two fire stairwells in the building and they are designed by law to be safe avenues of escape. They are marked by the letters, "A", and "B". Per Local Law 26, the fire stairwells have photo-luminescent markings, which in the event of a power failure will aid occupants in a safer evacuation from the building. Their locations are indicated on the floor diagram near the warden phone on each floor. Take some time to study these diagrams and acquaint yourself with the stairwells on your floors. Stairwell doors are self-closing for a reason. They must not be blocked open because this may allow the spread of smoke in a fire.
